On December 26, 2024, I went in for my annual mammogram, expecting it to be routine. However, on December 30, I received a call that changed everything. They needed me to come back for additional testing, including a dense mammogram and possibly an ultrasound. My follow-up appointment was set for January 6, 2025.
At the appointment, I underwent both the dense mammogram and the ultrasound. After the ultrasound, the technician left to get the doctor. Two doctors returned with the technician, and one of them performed her own ultrasound, identifying two questionable spots. She mentioned the need for a biopsy and, when I asked if I should be concerned, she said it could go either way. I was terrified. My biopsy was scheduled for January 23, 2025.
On the morning of January 23, I arrived for my biopsy. The doctor took six samples, and once the marker was placed, the procedure was over. I went home to wait for the results, which would take 3-5 business days.
On January 29, I received the news I had been dreading: I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. I was devastated. God has the final say, and I trust that everything will be just fine.
I have decided to undergo a mastectomy with reconstruction, which means I will be recovering for 8-10 weeks. Your financial assistance will help me focus on healing and fighting this battle with all my strength. Thank you for your support in helping me kick cancer's a$$.
