Cole Mills

My name is Joshua Mills. I am reaching out on behalf of my amazing son, Cole Mills.

I would like to share one of the most beautiful conversations I'd ever had with my son, showing me in that moment the type of man he is!

"Dad, if I'm going to go through all of this, I want to be able to help people who are going through the same painful process I am going through and if I never walk again, I'll be okay, because I have Jesus."

Through the darkest and most painful time of his life, Cole is thinking of how he can help others through the pain and struggles that he's been through. Words cannot express how proud his mother and I are of him and how much we love him.

As I attempt to share the heartbreaking journey Cole has been on these last few years, and especially this year, it's very challenging because there is such limited space. Not just to talk about his illness and disability, the challenge for me is wanting to share more about Cole James Mills, the man who inspires me every day to not give up and keep fighting!

Cole has been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, Muscle Myopathy, and he is in need of a hip transplant. Over these last several months, his health has declined rapidly. He has lost all strength in his legs and is unable to walk. Those of you who may be familiar with muscle myopathy know it is extremely painful on a daily basis. He can no longer walk or even sit in a chair anymore. For all intents and purposes, he is confined to his bed, having to remain in a vertical position.

I want to share about our incredible son. Those who know Cole know he has an amazing heart to help someone who needs support. He is loyal to his friends and family and generous to give to those in need, and he loves Jesus. Cole will tell you himself he has tons of issues, but he's pursuing God to change into the man God has created him to be. What I've witnessed in Cole over this last year as his health doesn't look like it's getting better, he's choosing to believe our God is the God of Miracles and he's choosing to believe in the Truth of God's word, not the facts of the moment! While his health continues to decline and bad report after bad report, Cole is pursuing God like never before, devouring the Bible and teaching me new things! His body may be weak, but his Spirit is strong. He gives our family strength as we see him fighting and not giving up. I believe his story is going to inspire thousands more. Jesus is King!

Big shout out to his amazing mother Andrea who has taken off work for a season to take care of Cole and see to his daily needs.

Now here's the ask. Your generous contributions, they will help cover some of the cost of his medication including Humira shots. Cole has already begun his Humira treatment and will be taking this medication twice a month which could cost anywhere from $1,500-$2,000 per shot. Other expenses will be purchasing medical/handicap equipment that insurance won't cover. Lastly, as Cole is unable to work, this will help his daily living needs and expenses. Our initial goal to meet these expenses is $35,000. We are asking that you please pray and stand with us and see if God leads you to give. Every little bit helps. If you are unable to give at this time, we ask that you would please continue to pray for God to give Cole comfort in the pain and peace in the storm while his healing comes quickly!
