Johnny had a 2nd surgery Monday, November 16th, on the back portion of his neck to further address the affected vertebrae and give additional support to the work that was previously done. His shoulder blade was also broken in the accident but will not require invasive treatment.

Johnny was lucky to survive the accident that night. One of the 4,  his dear friend, Kevin Dean, did not survive and this breaks our hearts. We are reminded that every day of life is a gift. This tragedy has touched so many in their rural Michigan community.

Johnny's prognosis is good at this time. His parents, John and Pam, took turns providing for their two younger children and staying with Johnny at the hospital, an hour from home for each of them. John and Pam are working tirelessly as they rise to this new challenge and are grateful for the help they are receiving from family and friends who are assisting with child care. John will have a long period of healing and rehabilitation but we are thankful for the skilled first responders and hospital staff who acted  quickly and decisively to bring about a positive outcome. There will be many follow-up trips to specialists to monitor Johnny's progress, and for occupational and physical therapies.



With your help we hope to relieve the financial strain on Johnny and his family for out of pocket costs associated with his continued medical care. Avoiding credit card debt for these costs will be ideal. Your generosity will fund copays, frequent travel to/from Traverse City, Munson and/or Grand Rapids for follow-up doctor visits, and occupational and physical therapies, and lost wages for Johnny and his parents.  Some therapies will be inpatient; others will be outpatient. We are told to expect a 6 month rehabilitation period visiting offices and facilities 1-2 hours drive from home.
