Joe goes to Puerto Rico
Donation protected
One week ago Puerto Rico was ravaged by Hurricane Maria. This beautiful island was left without food, water, law and order, and communications. For a week, families have not been able to speak with each other or cry out for help. Most of us have been watching helplessly as we look for a way to help. We are sending food, clothing, and money; but, it never feels like enough.
Well, my daddy, Joe Bassett, has the skills and ability to bring some peace and restoration. He has been working with the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) for several years by communicating through short wave radio when all other forms of communication are futile. He has been asked to travel to Puerto Rico for three weeks in order to establish communication through short wave radio. For many, this will be their only way to communicate since cell towers and landlines are devastated.
He has decided to take three weeks off from his teaching position in order to help those who cannot help themselves. It is completely voluntary. He will not be compensated by work or any relief organizations. I am asking that you consider donating in order to help my parents make ends meet while he is away. The money you give will replace the salary he will miss while in Puerto Rico. This is just one small way to help Puerto Rico rebuild and give their families the peace of communication.
