Jocelyne at ASU!

Donation protected
My name is Jocelyne Diaz and I recently began my journey as a Freshman at Arizona State University, where I plan to study Mechanical Engineering.

In June of this year, I graduated from Western School of Science and Technology in Maryvale, where I graduated in the top 5% of my class and joined plenty of clubs. Through my hard work in high school, I earned several scholarships to apply to my university education. Additionally, I have worked in my spare hours to earn money for college. I have worked as a political canvasser for the past 2 years, and I will continue to work as long as my studies at ASU allow it.

Even with this hard work, I am now facing the reality that I might not be able to continue my education. When the federal government effectively moved to end DACA in the Fall 2017, it gave states the right to end in-state tuition for those granted DACA by the government. Because of this, my scholarships no longer cover tuition, and I have several more costs to manage on my own - far more than I had budgeted for when I made my college plans. I am raising money for the following costs so that I can still attend ASU:

$3,000 remaining tuition cost for the Spring Semester
$750 textbook cost for the Fall semester
$750 textbook cost for the Spring semester
$500 parking permit as I will commute to campus every day

While I need money for Fall textbooks and a parking permit as soon as possible, my deadline to fundraise tuition for the Spring is December.

Your donations will help make my college dreams possible, so that I will be able to focus on my studies and my future. Thank you for any funds that you can contribute!
