Showing Holiday Love to Little Epilepsy Warriors

Thank you for viewing our fundraiser! We are starting this because we are continually inspired by our daughter Wren, one of the most unique and magical children on the planet. Wren lives in Chicago with her mom Trista and her dad Andrew and loves snuggling, listening to music, playing with her learning toys and sleeping in!
So many of you have opened your hearts to your stories and have shared why reading Wren’s journey has been so impactful. Many more of you are looking for ways to get involved, make a difference and help in any way you can. In knowing Wren's story, we wanted to bring something that was a family idea out into the open, as we believe the power of this caring team could help make a difference for a lot of other kids this holiday season.
Last year a majority of our holiday season was spent at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital within the 19th floor Epilepsy Division. This included trips over Thanksgiving and a 12-day stint leading up to Christmas with no promises of being discharged to see our families. Knowing firsthand how extremely difficult it can be being in the hospital this time of year, we wanted to do something special for the children and those families who unfortunately will be there through the end of the year. Many of these children are not able to leave their rooms to participate in group activities, so we are going to bring gifts to them.
We are collecting donations to purchase toys, books and gift cards for children of all ages as well as clothing and other goods that can be useful around the holidays. In addition, we will also be providing gift cards for the families for places like Target and WalMart where they can be used on children's essentials and things that help with their own unique journies. Our stretch goal is to be able to provide gifts at both Chicago Lurie Children's Hospital as well as Advocate Lutheran Children's hospital, both of which have provided continued care for Wren.
With the donated funds, we will be in charge of dispersing them directly in conjunction with care coordinators to purchase gifts (off pre-determined gift registries set up by the hospitals), buy gift cards and purchase catered meals for family and care workers so that they can have a sense of normalcy at the hospital. We are working with teams directly at Advocate and Lurie's and have made sure we follow all rules and protocols and making sure this was even possible before starting this fundraiser! We are meticulously tracking each penny spent and any remaining funds that don't go directly to gifts will be charitable donations to any one of the funds that most affects Wren; i.e. 501c3 organizations like PMG Awareness or Giggling GR1N's.
