Would never think a routine wisdom teeth extraction would turn almost deadly. Wednesday went in for my extraction by Friday, my body was failing fast. Monday had my airway closing very low Blood Pressure and oxygen count went into the ER and immediately flight for life was called. I was intubated my lung collapsed and I was put on Life support. Transported to UC Health Anshutz in Aurora, CO. In doctors terms, I had peritonsilar and submandibular abcces and mediastinitis due to a severe dental infection. Required 3 surgeries and extensive monitoring in the ICU for 17 days. Along with this I had staff infection, mersa, pneumonia, and crepitus which is caused by a tear in my esophagus and collapsed lung. Also developed a blood clot in my juggler, 2 inches from my brain, the size of a ping pong ball. Of which I still have. I couldn't eat or talk normally, so I had an NG tube feeding me threw my nose. I lost 34 pounds was living on pain killers and positive thinking. Several ENT and ID specialists doing this for 25 years kept telling me they were sorry, they didn't know what was wrong or how to treat me, and have never seen anything like this. They said it was a miracle that I'm alive and can't believe my progress. They were trying to go grow cultures to see what I had and kept saying sorry they don't know what it is. I had a wound vac and 2 JP drains surgically installed in my neck and still have 1 JP drain until further notice. There were abscess tunneling through my mouth and my neck killing me from the inside out. I am limited on what I can eat and do for at least 2 months. I'm on blood thinners and strong antibiotics and very weak. Getting stronger each day. I'm happy to be alive and eager to get my second chance on life started. This has not only changed me on the insideand out but changed me as a person. One should not take life or anything else for that matter for granted. Anything will always help. I hope to pass with flying colors on my next run of multiple tests and get back to normal everyday life. I love you all!! #lovelife
