Carl "Tooter" Rowlett Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Some of you may have known this young man as Carl Rowlett, but to a lot of us he was "Tooter". That's the nickname that his daddy gave him so please bare with me as that's what I will always remember him by.  Carl "Tooter" was found in his apartment this past week, with the cause of death still to be determined.  Tooter was a graduate of Texas Tech University and of course a Red Raider to the end.  He made his home in Lubbock but he was recently unemployeed and had no insurance, leaving the family (consisting of his sister) with the expense of his burial. So this really becomes a story of Tooter's sister, Mona. Tooter's death leaves Mona the last of four children, as they lost their other two sisters to cancer in 2010 within a week of each other. This past year has already been tough on Mona as she had some major complications from a routine knee surgery that almost took her life and kept her in the hospital through the Holiday Season last year.  She is still having some complications and has a mountain of medical expenses making the cost of Tooter's memorial service an added concern.  For those who know Mona, you know the heart she has.  Last year, when she was barely able to get out of bed, she would go to check on my grandmother and sit with her a while just to keep her company. Mona told me that since she did not have a grandmother anylonger she was going to borrow mine for a while.  And I know that my grandmother was just as OK with that as I was.  If you ever need help on anything, at any time, Mona is alway one of the first to step in and be sure the task if taken care of.  So that's why I am asking for everyone who knew Carl "Tooter" Rowlett, or those of you who know Mona, to help out.  We are setting up this account to help with the expenses that Mona will incur as a result of Tooter's death.

A memorial service for Carl Rowlett will be held Saturday, December 19th (on his birthday) at 2:00 p.m. at the Megargel Christian Fellowship Church, located on Hwy 114 between the Post Office and City Hall.

Words from Mona:
" Lord, please give us comfort now and in the weeks to come. Please take Tooter into your arms and give him peace. Even though our hearts are breaking, help us to remember you are the light and the way. I pray these things in Jesus name, amen."
