Jitihada School - Arusha, Tanzania

Donation protected
For my Bat Mitzvah project (and beyond) I am raising money to support the Jitihada school in Arusha, Tanzania.

I recently went to Tanzania with my grandparents and cousins. Seeing animals on the Serengeti was incredible, but meeting people who live across the world was even more amazing. One person we met was Nicholas. He introduced us to Masai tribesman, taught me to make a fire using elephant poop, and even kept my family from getting trampled by elephants. My family has stayed in touch with him and loves getting to know him better!

Nicholas lives in Arusha with his wife and two daughters. His daughters attend the Jitihada School for kids 3-14. Many children who attend this school are very poor. Families do not have electricity and walk long distances to get water. Children walk miles to and from school! Many of the students are orphans. Education is their only possible way out of poverty. But the school needs help. They need money for tuition assistance, books, supplies, food for students, uniforms, technology, sports equipment, and building upkeep so they can continue to support impoverished children and give them the tools they need to succeed in life.

In addition to raising money, I also plan to start a service club at my school, Friends Central, in which my peers will write letters to Jitihada school students so we can get to know kids from across the world and learn from each other.

GoFundMe cannot send directly to Tanzania. We are putting donations into an account and will send then directly to the director of the school early this spring. I will post when funds get transferred.
