Our dear friend Jim O'Quinn is in the ICU unit of the hospital in New Orleans right now. He and his husband Richard Fumosa need our help.
Earlier this year Jim was diagnosed with a heart condition. Typical of Jim, he didn't want everyone to worry, so he told very few people. To me he referred to it as "just a little heart failure, nothing to worry about." Earlier this month, however, he was admitted to the hospital and stayed for over a week, but he still didn't want us to worry people.
Last night, December 27, 2020, Jim slumped over at home and was rushed to the hospital, where he is now in the ICU and currently unable to wake up or make medical decisions. Jim's condition is very serious and Richard has asked me to create this GoFundMe page, with the assistance of some dear local friends.
Jim and his husband, Richard Fumosa, need our help and support right now with expenses such as medical bills, food, pet care, and transportation. Richard injured his shoulder earlier in the year, and cannot drive right now, so daily tasks such as getting back and forth to the hospital, walking Lucy (their dog), and grocery shopping are all harder with only one fully functional arm. Richard will need surgery on his arm when he can actually take the time to schedule this. This makes the need for immediate financial support for Jim and Richard even more crucial.
Many of you have had Jim support your art and your careers throughout the years as the Founding Editor of "American Theatre," and a tireless champion of the arts both in the United States and around the world. Please give what you can.
