On January 26, 2017, only two days before the celebration of the Chinese New Year, our beloved Grandpa Chen, my uncle, Jiansheng Chen was shot to death by a security guard in his own neighborhood clubhouse parking lot while sitting in his van. He  left behind his elderly parents in China whom he helped to support. The sad news was kept from them for the consideration of their health. The family are now faced with incredible grief and multitude of expenses.

My uncle, Jiansheng Chen was a kind, wise and caring family man. He was not the smartest person I know but definitely one of the wisest. Many brilliant minds out in the world fail to prove themselves with actions but he was the opposite. He taught me what it means to be a man of action. It was a story told by my grandmother when I was younger. My uncle dropped out of school shortly after grade 6, not because he didn't want to continue his education but to support his family at age 14 as a field laborer during a rough time in China. His sacrifices has always been my motivation to work hard.  He never talked about his past or his sacrifices but always focused on what the future held. Twenty eight years ago, he was the first from my family to immigrate from China to the United States of America in pursuit for freedom and the American dream. He worked day and night, and saved every penny for his family to have a better life. Today, my family from grandparents, their brothers and sisters (my grand-aunts and great-uncles) to all my cousins, we are either U.S citizen or green card holders, all because of my pioneer uncle.

My uncle was brutely killed and we desperately want justice.  Unfortunately, in the American Justice System, things move slowly. 

We have set up this fund to help with expenses relating to my uncle's tragic death then all the remaining funds will go to support other victim's families like ours.
