Jacob's Home for Men is a boarding home that's been around for 13 years now serving the Sunnyside Community in Southeast Houston.
The mission of Jacob's Home for Men is to help Veteran and civilian men with mental issues and those dealing with drug and alcohol related issues.
Many of the men that live at Jacob's Home for Men have little to no income. Every summer things get real hard at Jacob's Home for Men. The bills go up, (electricity and water), and the income remains the same. And with the recent effects of Covid-19 still affecting us and the increase in the cost of gas and groceries it is getting increasingly harder to maintain services at the boarding home.
After the devastating effects of the pandemic we are in need of help from the community as we are in the process of upgrading the building in which the men are housed.
Our building, located at 8408 Colonial Lane, was built in 1976 and as one would imagine, it is deteriorating from the inside out. We've started to have plumbing inside the walls replaced as well as electrical wiring. We are replacing all a/c window units and changing them out to Air/Heat Units and we are installing all new ceiling fans in every room of the building..
Our bus, a 2006 FORD E-350, which has 179876.3 miles on it, is starting to break down and we need money to make much needed repairs to keep it running. The wheelchair ramp no longer works amongst other issues we are facing with it.
Our building and vehicle is deteriorating and we need your help to keep things flowing. Running the home has been a joy these past 13 years, as we have helped hundreds of men live a better life and with your help and contributions we will continue to run smoothly for many years to come. Back in 2017 we came to you asking for help after the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey and today we humbly ask, because of the age of the building and the vehicle, that you PLEASE come to our aid and consider donating today...
