Jessie's Kidney Transplant Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Monica Sutton and I am setting up this fundraising site for Jessie Piccirillo, who is my son Ty's girlfriend. She is like a daughter to me. Ty and Jessie have been together for about 2 years and just moved into a new home, where they have 2 dogs and 2 roommates. About a year ago she started having some migraines and health issues that turned out to be Kidney Disease. Very rapidly she was placed on the transplant list and scheduled for surgery, which happened 5 days ago. Her mom, Lori, was a match and gave her one of hers. The surgery was long, but a great success. Both Lori and Jessie have since gone home and are recovering, which will be a very long road for Jessie, but one she is super thankful to have. Lori is doing great, as her boss gave her enough paid time off to most likely get thru her recovery time. I do have a Meal Train going for her which is connected to our Caring Bridge, although she would rather people help her daughter, not her. She is a hero and amazing person! I'm working on a Meal Train for Jessie/Ty, however, her dietary restrictions are very, very strict, like no take-out for at least 3 months. All meats need to be cooked to 140 degrees minimum, served right away, or stored according to food safety guidelines, and food must be prepared in an extremely clean kitchen. If she was to consume any bacteria, it will attack her kidney. There are so many limitations. She also has to go to the hospital 3 times a week for the first 6 months for lab work and doctor visits. Today was her first time, and it has been extremely hard on her and made her very nauseous, sore/painful and exhausted. Not to mention they sent her home with no pain medications from the hospital, so I took her some lidocaine patches, and she has ice packs, but it's uncomfortable for her. After the first 6 months, she will be going in once a week for a year. It's a lot!

Luckily Jessie has health insurance and her job gave her family medical leave, so she will not lose her job however, it is NOT paid time off, except for her 1 week's vacation time, which will be used up the day after tomorrow. She set up an interest-free payment plan and so far owes her deductible of $4,000, which she has already met. Most of the more than 20 medications she has have been covered but there are a lot of over-the-counter items that she has needed, and most she will be on for the rest of her life, and her medications will be altered every couple of days as she goes in for labs. My son Ty is her 24/7 caregiver, who is not able to work either. They gave us the range of 6 weeks to 8 months for a transplant patient to recover, which is quite the range. Of course, we hope for 6 weeks, but only time will tell. And with her new very strict diet, which does not allow take-out food, it is difficult to help them with meals, etc. These are the reasons I feel compelled to start this fundraiser for her. Lori, her mom, as a living donor, did not incur any medical expenses, as the organ recipient does. So please donate, only if you can. She will use this money to pay down her Medical Loans. And if you would rather make a cash donation, or donate outside of Go Fund Me which does have fees, please message me and I will make arrangements with you. And a confusing side note is Caring Bridge and Meal Train also ask you for donations. Caring Bridges donations go towards the cost of the website, not to Jessie directly. And I did not set up the Meal Train site yet, because I'm waiting to see if it will even be a smart option. I am thinking grocery gift cards/cash might be a better option.
