Jessica Elena Singing Rain Tozer, age 30, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2018. She was accidentally hit by a car while riding her bicycle in Colorado Springs, CO. Jessica was born June 10, 1988 in Oakland, CA. When she was born her mother wept for joy, knowing that her baby girl had arrived. Jessica, whose name means rich-God behold/bright one/Gods spirit moves, was much beloved by her family, whom she loved in return.
Jessica asked the Lord Jesus in her heart when she was three years old. From an early age, she showed a tendency for helping others, especially children. She enjoyed working at Golden Bell Camp for three summers in her youth. As a young adult she volunteered at New Life Church in an Easter play, The Thorn. Her passions included singing, listening to music, reading, riding bikes, outdoor adventures, the company of others, and helping people. Her favorite hero was Superman, which she showed in action, and with the Kryptonian symbol which she had tattooed on her arm.
Jessica suffered with mental health challenges and addiction issues in life. Ever a free-spirit, Jessica wanted her independence, often to her detriment. Above all, she endeavored to live her truth. Even when that truth, for others, would have been hard to face. Jessica was brave. Not because she wanted to be, but rather because she had to be. In that way she embodied the spirit of a superhero more than she could have realized.
Jessica is survived by her mother Sondra Tozer-Sumner, her siblings Joseph, Jeremiah, and Samara, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father Mark Tozer and brother Glacier. She will be dearly missed. See you in heaven my beloved daughter.
