Esperanza Community Farms inspires hope and acts for food equity. We are a subsidized CSA program that represents a culturally relevant access-point to local organic produce, especially for immigrants and our Latinx/Indigenous neighbors in the Pajaro Valley.  On a monthly basis we address the very real problem of food scarcity by delivering freshly harvested, organic and culturally-preferred produce to the doorstep of 105 member families. Our long term vision is a Pajaro Valley where every child regardless of race, socio-economic background, or parent education level will regularly consume healthy food, and fully realize the person they want to be.

This is an invitation to support a local and member-driven project.

Esperanza Community Farms was founded in 2017 by a food justice advocate, a farmworker, and a farmworker’s
daughter—training to be a nurse. There were 15 CSA members the first year. Our growth in the last year includes:

-A full time Lead Farmer (Guillermo Lazaro)

- A signed a lease with the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County on a gorgeous three-acre parcel of certified organic farmland located on the Land Trust’s Watsonville Slough Farms; and,

- Four synergistic partnerships (listed below).

Our ethnically diverse team of 5 part-time staff works to carry out our menu of program offerings. We share wellness-focused information delivered inside the CSA bags,  art kits designed to honor family time, and recipes that members themselves submit to share with other families. We further engage members via phone & text monthly for conversations about our relationship to food, local food systems and potential areas for collective action.

Will you help us reach our $5,000 fundraising goal for this 2020 season by matching my donation of $150?!

Key partners that support our work are the Watsonville Land Trust, the SC County Health Clinic in Watsonville, Central California Alliance for Health and the Second Harvest Food Bank. Our most important partner is our membership- they bring wisdom, resilience and loving attention to that which sustains us all, the promise of a better future.

On a personal note I'd like to "call you in" to Esperanza more deeply by acknowledging our shared values for steady action, equitable access and joy for all. I'm counting on your support. Muchas gracias y adelante!

You can also write a check and mail it to our fiscal sponsor, the Second Harvest Food Bank. Don't forget to include a memo indicating  the donation is for Esperanza Community Farms. Mail to Esperanza Community Farms, 800 Ohlone Parkway, Watsonville, CA 95076
