Jeff Skaletsky Memorial Fund
We are raising money to cover expenses and arrangements for our father, Jeffrey Skaletsky, who passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2020, two days after being diagnosed with metastatic esophageal cancer.
Born July 4, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA, Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Rina, his older brother, Malcolm, his four children (Nicole, Tanya, Tina Marie and Steven) and four grandchildren (Jacob 14, Gavin 9, Chloe 9, and Elise 8).
Anyone who knew him, even for a short time, knew him to be warm, generous, upbeat, intelligent, and quick-witted. He was a lover of music, film, the arts, technology, science, comedy, and great food, and truly loved sharing his “best finds” with others. We miss him tremendously.
Jeff moved to California soon after graduating from Temple University in 1976. He worked as a delivery courier and property manager in Venice Beach, CA, before taking courses in the (then) newly-emerging world of personal computing and network technology in 1984. He loved his work and befriended many, many people throughout his career as a database specialist. Though his most recent position was with USC, he had worked in the tech industry for 36 years across multiple organizations including: JPL, Sun Microsystems, The Getty Center, Cars Direct, Yellow Pages, and Digital Insight.
At only 66 years old, Jeff had put off building assets for retirement to support his four children through college and make ends meet during his wife’s recent battle with lung cancer.
We, his family, are setting up this fund to assist with the many expenses we are up against after his unexpected passing. We plan to hold a service celebrating his life once we are able to gather safely post-COVID.
We immensely appreciate the outpouring of support from those of you who have known and enjoyed our Dad over the years. He was the most loving, kind and patient person we had ever known, and it is beyond moving for us to see how many other people valued our Dad’s wonderful spirit.
