Jason’s Kidney Transplant Journey
Don protégé
UPDATE: Jason is home now and recovering well. Surgery went longer than we had exprected (7 hours) but all went well in the end. We are going for weekly visits 2-3 times a week but minimum of 2 depending on the situation. It's going to be a long road ahead for recovery but we are staying strong.
We cannot express how much we are thankful to everyone who has prayed, contributed or shared our post and is continuing to do so. We ask to please share our post if you haven't already. So far with the money that we've raised we've been able to pay for gas, transportation, household expenses, rent, parking at the hospital and medication, groceries etc. Your shares and contributions are most generous and does not go unseen. Organ donation saves lives and the recovery time is the most crucial time for the patient. I'm currently home for three months taking care of Jason. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
Hello,
My name is Resha and I’m the wife of Jason Goddard. We have a fur baby named Thor that’s a Frenchie. Jason and I have been together for fifteen years and we have only been married for four. We never had a chance to take our honeymoon due to Covid and due to his CKD getting worse. Jason was diagnosed with kidney disease about 7 years ago and we have managed to keep away from dialysis until Covid happened. Jason has been on dialysis for the past year and recently lost his job. I almost lost him three times while on treatment. He is currently under 9% kidney function. It has been very tough for both of us, as Jason enjoys going to work. Jason has not stopped working while on treatment because we couldn’t simply afford it. We had three live donors, but all fell through due to different reasons.
We recently got a phone call from the hospital that they have a donor for Jason which is the best gift I could ever ask for. As we all know hospital visits, parking, time off comes with a price. I will be off with Jason for 3 months taking care of him and our income will reduce to one and it will be very tough to survive during a very vulnerable time. The funds we receive will go towards parking at the hospital downtown Toronto, medication, gas, food, transportation, rent as well as other household bills to keep afloat.
As Jason and I are very private people, we normally would never ask for this as we are prideful, however our family and friends have pushed us to just ask as they say there’s no harm in asking. For those who know us, it has been an emotional rollercoaster so anything will help. We have debated about creating a Go Fund Me page for about six months, but as we sit here in the hospital room at 2am awaiting transplant, it leaves me no other time but to ask now.
Thank you for all your prayers throughout this journey and contributions. God Bless You!
