Jason Martens' Heart Surgery

Hi my name is Jennifer, I'm making this Go Fund Me to help pay for my brother's heart surgery. Jason's aortic valve was not fully formed at birth, and this has led to complications as an adult. He has an aortic aneurysm, and will need a new aortic valve, and synthetic aorta. We entrusted our Canadian heart surgeons to keep watch on his condition, and schedule surgery when the time was right. But as

it turns out, they've waited until now to tell him his life expectancy is the end of this year, with no available surgery date. Jason traveled to Monterrey, Mexico to have the surgery done. We found an amazing cardiac surgeon, and he is now on the mend after experiencing unexpected infection 2 days after the surgery which resulted in an extra $31,000 in medical bills.

Jason is now home with his family, after spending over a month away. He's recovering well, slowly but surely.

I am asking for financial help for Jason to pay the medical bills, travel expenses, and to support his family while he is unable to work. He has not received out of country OHIP funding for this life saving surgery, all funds have been through generous donations and are extremely appreciated.

Jason is a husband to Judy, and father to four beautiful children, Ezra, Sofia, Ivan and Jace. Together they live in Eden, Ontario. He is extremely loved and deserving of the best medical care. We are incredibly grateful for any amount donated. Thank you.
