Janazah Costs for Dr Dawood Rosser Owen

Some of you might have seen an announcement about an old Swansea revert, Dr Dawood Rosser Owen having passed away on Sunday.

 

Being an ex Swansea person the family are bringing the body down for burial in the Muslim part of Danygraig. His widow has messaged our respected Brother Taha Idris to say that she is struggling to cover the cost which may come to around £3000 although they will cover the cost of bringing the myet to Swansea.

 

He was a significant figure in the postwar history of Islam in Britain, particularly with respect to the convert community.

 

He and his wife Bashiera were the first British spiritual murids of Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani, shortly after he first came to teach Islam in London in September 1974, and they were associated with this spiritual tradition for many years, during which time Daoud served as the Shaykh's deputy with regard to his British disciples. May Allah grant him Jannah.

 

Janazah prayer will be at Swansea Masjid probably on Monday, after dhuhr next week.
