Jamie Powell - Memorial Fund

Jamie Powell was a loving and caring person who brought joy to many people during her life. She tragically drowned in a car accident on February 20th, 2019 when she lost control of her car in bad weather. Her car went off the highway and submerged into a pond. She was only 35 years old and leaves behind a beautiful son Cameron (13) who will now have to navigate life without his mother’s physical presence.

Jamie was the youngest of three children in our family and me and my brother’s only sister. When I think of her life and what she meant to me, I think of hope and courage. A hope that one day, we would get to a space where we were both at peace with ourselves and the lives we had built. She had the courage and willingness to face hard challenges in life’s journey. I wished for her to one day look back and understand any times of struggle were just temporary. Sadly, I will not be able to share those moments with my sister.

Jamie would want her family and friends to remember her in the good times they had together and know she is in a place of eternal peace.

Jamie, I have much difficulty writing this even two weeks after your death. Only those that have lost a close family member can fully relate. I hope this quote can convey my feelings during this time:

“There is a sacredness to tears. They are not the marks of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.” – Washington Irving

My sister did not have life insurance like most 35-year old people. We are trying to help her son Cameron in some small financial way, and anything you donate is greatly appreciated.

We will set an initial $1000 goal over the next month, and if we are fortunate enough we will raise this after the initial goal is met. We understand if you cannot donate, and I want to thank you for taking the time to read this today.

All net proceeds will initially be put in the charge of Jamie’s mother and will be distributed to her son Cameron in an appropriate manner.
