A bustling center of hope is the main church building in the village of Bunkers Hill ,Claridon parish Jamaica.2400 feet above sea level. They come with great expectations but with gratitude in loaded buses, cars, and motor bikes with majority more on foot walking often 10-30 miles. elderly men and women ,fathers and mothers with toddlers and children excited to come see those they call their 'Great friends from America'
Every year in July a determined and dedicated group of volunteers, social workers, physical therapist, nurses, doctors from New York ,New Jersey, Florida under the auspices of Impact life International, a nongovernmental organization work tirelessly to provide medical care to over 300 patients day feeling more grateful for the ever warm reception and the opportunity to serve such wonderful people despite meager means of lively hood and far away from the nearest health center brace the blazing July heat or flash heavy rains come to the church turned overnight into a makeshift clinic.
At the end of each clinic day late in the evening some of us go join to help the other missionaries and volunteers at who work un-relentlessly at the proposed permanent site for a health center which we all have been for the past 6 year individually and collectively donating money to build for the community. This health center would be the only health center for about 18 miles radius, would serve thousands in the community as well as help improve continuity of care all year round with the help of local health care providers. Your donations will no doubt make a huge difference and would further help put a smile on their faces. You will then become one of the ‘Great friends from America’.
