Jake Kowalske & Family During Cancer Treatment

As some of you may know, and many do not yet- My boyfriend, Jake, was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Non Small Cell Lung Cancer, which has spread to his left hilar lymph node, as well as a diagnosis of Alpha 1 Antitrypson Deficiency.

After meeting with his oncologist today, he has put together a treatment plan that consists of chemotherapy & immunotherapy, followed by surgery to remove the malignant portion of his left lung, along with his left hilar lymph node.

Jacob still has a ton of lung tests and MRI's, etc., and then will get his chemo port implanted, over the next 2 weeks.

As of now, Jake is set to start chemotherapy and immunotherapy at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute- at their Twinsburg location, right after Christmas.

His oncologist is going with an aggressive form of chemo, which will consist of 3 rounds- 1x every 3 weeks, for a total of 9 weeks of chemo/immunotherapy, followed by a 2 week break before lung surgery.

His oncologist advised us that Jake will need to be off of work for 12 consecutive weeks during chemotherapy (this is not including time that will be needed off for the surgery).

As you can imagine, Jake is extremely stressed out about not working/not getting a paycheck, for the 12 (initial) weeks that he'll need to be out of work.

We are asking for donations, to help ease the burden for him/myself/our children, as he starts his battle to beat lung cancer! Please consider helping him focus on overcoming cancer, without the added worry of bills/money. Anything helps!
