RIP Jacob Collings, age 22

Annie is a waitress in a popular luncheonette in Hamilton, NJ, and my husband Rich & I got to know her over the past several years because of early breakfasts before the start of workdays. She has always been close to her daughter Jennifer and grandson Jake.
Less than 2 months ago, Jake was diagnosed with a brain infection after he started falling and dropping things. He went through periods of neuro-storming at St. Mary’s Hospital in Langhorne, PA as the infection traveled through his body, including his spine. Pneumonia set in. Jennifer stayed by her son’s bedside, whispering in his ear as he responded with blinks, but the writing was on the wall. The doctors could not save him. Jake’s kidneys and liver were given to those in need after a Hero’s Walk inside the hospital; however, most of Jake’s organs suffered so much tissue damage that nothing else could be donated, and his kidneys had to be put on dialysis before going to the recipients. Time was up before anything else could even be explored. Such a sudden devastating loss! Jake was loving, hard-working and made his family proud.
Jake passed way on December 23, 2020 at the age of 22. An autopsy will soon be done to determine the cause of the infection, and Jake’s body will be cremated. A memorial will be held later.
Obviously, Annie and Jen are struggling immensely, and they now face costs for cremation, the transportation for the cremains, and the obituary. Many more bills will come, and Jennifer and Annie are both waitresses who are not working right now. I hope to let them know that people care, and want to help. This fundraiser will hopefully, at the very least, cover these beginning charges. Any extra will go towards the bills that follow. Annie and Jen, we send our love.
