Spende geschützt
Hi everyone! My name is Isabelle, and I'm reaching out to you today because I wish I could do more for my sister, Emily, and her husband, Seth. They’ve had a challenging couple of weeks and could use some support. Emily and Seth began their new life together in a whirlwind of joy, moving to Singapore and sharing exciting experiences. Unfortunately, just a few weeks before Easter, their journey took an unexpected turn.
Seth suffered a knee injury while playing flag football, requiring emergency surgery. This left him with significant medical bills and time away from work. As if that weren't enough, Emily soon fell ill with what she thought was strep throat, which quickly progressed. She was hospitalized with a diagnosis of mycoplasma bacteria and a drug-resistant rash, and she remains in the hospital.
Although they have good health insurance in the USA, in Singapore, they must cover 30% of their medical bills, which currently total at least $20,000. As a newly married couple, this situation presents a heavy burden, particularly with no available payment plans in Singapore. Any donation to help alleviate their financial strain would mean the world to them, allowing them to focus on healing and rebuilding their lives. Thank you so much for your generosity.
UPDATE!
Emily has finally been discharged! After a series of heavy antibiotics, steroids, and immunosuppressants, her blood work has improved and her rash is finally going away. She will need to stay at home for a while to recover and make sure she stays healthy due to still being immunocompromised. Luckily Seth is also doing well! He is still nonweightbearing but is now able to crutch to work. He is bending his knee well and getting stronger. He was Emily’s rock this whole time. The gofundme has allowed them both to focus more on their healing and less on the stress of medical bills. They also felt a sense of community they had been severely lacking in Singapore. Thank you to all who have donated. Any little bit helps them get closer to paying off their balance.
