Neighbors in Need is a Facebook group whose members consist of a broad coalition of volunteers — individuals and organizations — who support each other as we attempt to support new local immigrants, primarily asylum-seeking and refugee families and individuals, in establishing new lives here in Maine.
Our new neighbors come to us with very little in the way of material belongings. We assist them in obtaining household and personal items by enlisting the aid of a broader group of willing hands. In doing so, we hope to ease their transition to their new lives as they begin to settle and make a new home here.
We are also a forum for asking questions, discussing common challenges, and sharing events of particular interest to our friends or to us, as we support them.
