J Packett Family emergency fund

Hello, my name is Wendy and I’m asking for help with monthly expenses for the family of my eldest son, Jacob. (Aka, Jake)

On 12/26/2022 Jacob began experiencing severe abdominal pain. His partner took him to the ER to find out he has a kidney stone. They gave him some meds and sent him on his way in hopes that it would pass on its own. Jacob works in a scrap yard in Maryland and has been off since that day due to the severe pain. Jacob only has 5 PTO days a year to use. Obviously he has used that up already. Maryland is one of 5 states that do not require employers to provide short term disability.

I went to Maryland to visit on 12/31/2022. While there, Jacob suffered much pain until his appointment with the Urologist on 01/03/2023. I had become ill the day before so I stayed an extra day. That extra day being the day he went to the Urologist. I was feeling better so I went with him. They couldn’t do anything that day but scheduled a procedure for 1 week later to remove it. They provided more meds and stated that if he becomes feverish before the day of the procedure to go to the ER and then surgery would follow.

At 3:48am Friday morning I received a message that he went to the ER via ambulance. They would perform surgery to remove the stone that day. Then he tested positive for Covid so they have held off. He is still hospitalized to keep him comfortable.

Jacob is the provider of his sweet little family and has not been able to work since 12/26/2022. His PTO is used up and no disability is offered. His home is a one income household and he provides for his partner, Kayla and 2 little girls, Violet (2yo) and Delilah (11mo). So as of now, there is no income to pay bills.

I’m hoping out of the kindness of peoples hearts we can help them with donations to cover their January and February rent along with their other bills such as energy, phone bill and diapers for the baby. And possibly some medical bills.

Jacob and Kayla would be so grateful for any bit of help to keep them in their home with their little girls and help make a most difficult time in their life just a little smoother and less stressful.
