My Snowdon challenge

Donation protected

Hi,

My name is Italia. I am 13 years old.

During March 2020, my whole family became unwell, including myself. My temperature was through the roof as well as my mum. My uncle who has severe Learning disabilities developed a cough, as well as my nana and grandad restricted to their bed,as they fell really un-well.

That same week we had to take my nana to hospital due to breathing difficulties and on 7th April we received a call to say they were hoping to discharge her. Within the space of 48 hours, our whole world fell apart and on 9th April, the hospital called and said that she had passed away. She was alone and we couldn’t see or speak to her throughout her time in hospital. My mum and grandad were briefly able to say goodbye over FaceTime.

Me and my nana were best friends. There wasn’t a day that went by that we didn’t see or speak to each other and not being able to see or speak to her again is heartbreaking for me and my family. It’s been a tough year…..

Everybody’s lives have been affected by this dreadful virus in one way or another and many people have lost loved ones and experienced the most challenging times in their lives.

The battle is still ongoing ………

Thats why I decided to raise money for a charity called ‘Action Together’ who are based in Greater Manchester and provide an emergency response to coronavirus. All the money will go to local groups and charities to help them continue to provide vital community support.

The money raised will support anything from supporting the vulnerable and older people, families in need, to local foodbanks and mental health groups. It can provide families in need with practical items like food and clothing, or a charity to give telephone advice, support and companionship for older people to prevent them from feeling isolated and lonely during Coronavirus self-isolation.

On Saturday 19th June 2021, I will be travelling to Snowdonia and climbing the biggest mountain in Wales and England, Mount Snowdon. Believe me, I don’t even like walking to school so this will definitely be my biggest challenge yet…… as well as rewarding at the same time.

I know that my nana would be very proud of me for raising money for such a good cause and that is what gives me the commitment to complete this challenge. I will do this for my nana as well as the thousands of other lives that have been affected and lost, during this pandemic.

If you can find it in your heart to sponsor me in order to raise money for an important cause, then I would really appreciate it and be forever grateful.

Thank you

Italia
