Meet our little Isla. She’s perfectly imperfect in every way. Isla was hit it by a car (our best guess) in Texas in early May, and was brought to our rescue friends FLIGHTS TO FUREVER . During her vet appointment it was determined that she was also PREGNANT when she was struck!! This made it near impossible to treat her injuries. Despite her pelvis being broken in 3 places, she gave birth to 3 healthy puppies on Memorial Day, unfortunately she also lost 3 babies due to her injuries. FTF reached out to us and we decided to bring her to Buffalo and get her into a foster right away.
When we first met her, she loved us immediately! Not a mean bone in her little 29lb body! She trusted her fosters with her little newborns and she was an amazing momma to Skye, Jura and Aaran. Now that she has fully weaned her puppies, we can start treating her injury. She is able to use her injured leg, she's been putting more pressure on it and even running! But we can see that she favors it and that it does bother her. We want nothing more than to ease her pain and suffering. She deserves so much more than she's been offered in her little, short life ( it's estimated that she is only a Year Old!!)
Her surgery is on Nov 1st with Scott G. Nachbar, DVM. The surgery will help increase range of motion for her leg. While all expectations are for a full recovery, she will need regular exercises and physical therapy. The surgery is estimated between $2970.87 - $3,444.87 - not including the follow up appointments, therapy and medications.
We do not have a donor base, we rely on generous donations from our friends, family and people like you in our Queen City to help us be able to get our fosters the treatments that they need. We hope that you will take our efforts into consideration and help to further our amazing cause. Keep in mind that your donation is tax deductible. We sincerely appreciate your support!
