Rehabilitation of a water fountain in Burundi
ISOKO RY NIL WATER FOUNTAIN PROJECT
We@voltalia and Gigawatt Global partner in a social project in Mubuga (Burundi), a very isolated village where the local population lives with less than 1$/day and no direct access to water. The closest natural water fountain is located 900m away from the village, where women and children pick their water, transporting it in containers on their heads.
Each €27 equals the cost of 1 meter of the water pipe built. Any donation, small or big, will make a difference!
The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate a natural water fountain and bring potable water and direct access to a local community in Burundi.
A cleaning coffee unit will also benefit from this since the coffee is better sold when washed, sorted, and dried, increasing the revenues:
• 1km of impermeable canalization
• concrete tanks
• 1 fountain near the road for public supply
32 000 people will benefit within 7 km around the fountain.
About the team:
ISOKO RY NIL WATER FOUNTAIN project is created by members of We@Voltalia, João Vareta, Waly Gueye and Carole Pontais.
The construction is done by local subcontractors and local workers of ERCON.
We@Voltalia is the Voltalia Employees' Association, which has been created and run by employees of Voltalia since 2018.
It is a community where Voltalians work together to turn ideas into impactful and meaningful social projects.
