Ironwoods Trail Improvement

In the Common Space between Cardiff Place, Oldham Place and Ironwoods Drive are three trail heads that connect in to a single trail that leads in to Bolin Forest. Having curbside access to Bolin Forest and Carolina North is one more great thing about the Ironwoods neighborhood.
Beyond all the recreational benefits, these trails connect our neighborhood to Wilson Park, Carrboro Elementary, Seawell Elementary, two small playgrounds and a number of neighborhoods in Carrboro.
The map below shows the trails, in red, that connect Ironwoods to Bolin Forest and Carolina North
Over the years the primary trail to Bolin Forest has eroded and become rough and rooty making it much more difficult to navigate for walkers, hikers and bikers.

To improve trail usability and prevent further erosion we are hoping to lay a path of crushed stone on the trail and possibly add steps at the Ironwoods Drive and Cardiff Place entries where currently the trail entrances are up steep and sometimes muddy hills.
If you have been in Carolina North lately, you may have noticed the University has been laying crushed stone on many of their trails where erosion or standing water has been a problem.
The photos below show a couple trails where crushed stone has been laid to improve Carolina North trails
Ronnie King, who provides general landscaping services to Ironwoods, has quoted the Trail Improvements in the Common Area at $3,850 to install crush and run gravel to the trail; $2,500 for eight steps from Cardiff Place up to the trail and $1,600 for five steps from Ironwoods. Total project cost: $7,950.
The trail from Oldham Place to the the main trail doesn't need improvement as its raised and flat and isn't eroding like the primary trail.
