My name is Omar Haedo - originally from Puerto Rico, now residing with my family in Miami. We own and operate Health Insurance companies in USVI - BVI and Anguilla.
IRMA devastated the USVI - BVI and Anguilla, and now Maria devastated St Croix and Puerto Rico. it's a calamity on top of a disaster. Ugh!!!
I am personally on site. I can see who gets what.
We have figured this out to maximize resources:
1. Ability to purchase locally. Right now shipping is expensive and limited from the USA.
2. Ability to deliver - we have a rather large boat and can take materials and goods to the islands.
3. Ability to identify HIGHEST need - through local trusted clients and agents. The single mom with 3 kids, the ill, the infirmed. Everyone needs, but this avoids cute people taking advantage.
We're raising money to deliver what people need:
1. Generators - we purchase locally in PR at wholesale cost and load in our vessel for delivery.
2. Food - non perishable items and mosquito repellent.
3. 12V items, batteries, fans.
We will distribute outside the government channels - I am personally making sure this gets to those with HIGHEST need.
We will purchase in PR and deliver on my vessel. The funds will go through ELAN or myself as we purchase things.
All accounting will be transparent by our CFO and available to any donor.
