Support Empowerment with Peaces of Me Foundation

Different by design, Peaces of Me Foundation is challenging society to rethink its understanding of disabilities and chronic illnesses.

In 2019, cousins Daniel Hodges and Kristy Rogers began the journey of creating an organization that would reimagine what an Accessibility-focused nonprofit could look like. Daniel and Kristy knew from personal experience that existing resources were not adequately serving their community. Thus, they decided to assemble a team and start the process of creating something better.

Over the last 4 years, our team has worked tirelessly to remove the barriers that impede people with disabilities from reaching our potential. Our volunteer-led organization has reduced stigma and elevated awareness through our webinars and articles. We have taught medical and legal professionals how they can serve our population more effectively, We have trained landscape architects on the basics of universal design, so that everyone can more fully enjoy public spaces. In each of these instances, the impact has been deep and lasting.

The following are a few examples of the impact our work is creating:
• Better health outcomes. Currently, individuals with disabilities experience extreme health disparities when compared with our peers. Our training is narrowing that gap.
• Increased access. Our community faces a plethora of challenges when it comes to accessing public spaces; both physical and virtual. By educating the business community on the principals of universal design, we are elevating quality of life for individuals with disabilities and stimulating the economy simultaneously.
• Improved employment prospects. Studies show that 2 out of 3 individuals with disabilities are capable of achieving meaningful employment. Moreover, most of us want to work. By replacing tired misconceptions with fresh understanding, we are opening the door to full participation in society.

We realize that there are myriad organizations that are doing remarkable work. Here are some unique features of Peaces of Me Foundation that we would ask you to consider:
• Truly inclusive. At Peaces of Me, we pride ourselves on meeting people where they are. Whether you're an ally trying to find new ways to support our community, a business who doesn't know where to begin the process of becoming more accessible, or an individual adapting to a new identity; this is the place for you.
• Solution-oriented. We strive to promote win-win propositions wherever possible. For instance, we reject the notion that Accessibility and profitability are mutually exclusive.
• Collective experience. Our team is comprised of individuals with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and identities. This helps us generate ideas that are novel, comprehensive, and well-rounded.

Peaces of Me Foundation is working hard to change society's understanding of disability so that all individuals can reach their full potential. By doing so, we are creating opportunities, facilitating a sense of belonging, and fostering hope. Your generous contribution will help us spread the kind of awareness and education that leads to lasting change. Please join us on our journey toward a world where everyone can thrive.
