Greetings,
I hope my friends can share and get behind this campaign. We would like to help as many as possible With shoes, sleeping bags, hand sanitizer, food, other necessities along with a little love early in the morning. Your donations will do it!! Thank you for your support.
Please donate and/or share. You are welcomed to go out with us @ 0400. #Blessed2BeABlessing We started this personal charity Poker4shoes.org by using 15% of my winnings in Vegas to build an account up. We just passed our 4th year giving out over 1100+ Shoes and 1100+ Sleeping bags and other needed supplies.
It all started with a kid I met one morning in LV: driving giving out my used stuff and food. I saw this tall kid 19-22 walking with no shoes obviously cold and I stopped to asked him what size he wears. It was obvious his feet were in pain, scabbed up, dirty, and weathered. I asked him where his shoes were & This was his answer;
Smiling with a kind spirit behind his smile he said; “Hi sir. I am Adam I wear a size 13. Then he went on to say, and after I take my meds for my #autism and #schizophrenia I fall asleep & wake up with my stuff gone. They take my other stuff too.” Sadly. I didn’t have any 13s with me and I felt bad.
I offered him to jump in my truck to go buy some shoes. He said; “no thank you sir. I don’t get in vehicles”.
So I told him I would be back. Don’t move. I left to the nearest shoe store in #DwntwnLV none open. I drove up DI to the Walmart. And bought $450 worth of large shoes & warm clothes & sizes 11-12-13 shoes I went back to find him first and then look for others to give out the rest too. I searched for two hours giving out shoes and couldn’t find him that day.
I went back morning after morning when I finished playing poker. With no luck morning after morning I couldn’t find him.
It took 3 weeks but I found him again with no shoes, this time I had a sleeping bag, socks, a hoodie and a few other things I could find big enough for him. And that was the last time I ever saw that kid. He inspired me to continue to help our forgotten ones..
I still search for him in the mornings when I’m in Vegas. dark haired tall kid with a smile, barefooted wearing clothes that are too small. I have yet to see him. Sadly, I pray for him often.
