The city of Indianapolis is giving us the opportunity to add new renovations to Major Taylor for the second year in a row.
We have collected the skatepark users' ideas and came up with some renovations that will improve the park and not interfere with future additions. We voted and the ideas were chosen. Now we have the chance to get all the ideas that received the most votes to be built.
If we raise $2000 we can build 4 out of the 6 proposed ideas. This is because of a generous donation from CICF (Central Indiana Community Foundation). If we do not meet our goal we will have to decide what items get cut. Lets not have to cut anything!!! We've never asked for money before, nows the time to show the city you care. Thanks so much. We've explained the ideas below and will have more detailed plans available soon. Thank you!
Idea #1 is a new flat bar where the square one is now. This would also be a bump to rail. With this feature we will provide a roller to quarter pipe that will provide speed to the bump to rail. This will extend out into the grass at the bottom of the rail
Idea #2 - the bump to bump that are on the left hand side of the park will be mellowed out to make an easier flybox that will allow for more tricks and easier access to the ledges on the side.
Idea #3 is removing a section of the ledge in the front of the park and creating a manual pad entry way. This will create two ledges one 6" tall and one about 10" tall, a manual pad in and out of the park, and two wally ledges.
Idea #4 (if we can raise the money) will be a new ledge on top of the existing ledge by the stairs. This will make the ledge all one height and move it out so it is easier approach from the flat.
