Tenakee Springs - Suspension Bridge Rebuild

The Indian River Suspension Footbridge in Tenakee Springs was badly damaged during an extreme winter rainstorm and flood in December 2020.
The City of Tenakee Springs has the original plans and members of the Tenakee City Labor Pool are ready to go to work to reconstruct the bridge. The Labor Pool includes persons who were involved with its construction 32 years ago!
We feel that this bridge is an important part of our Tenakee Springs community.
The Indian River Suspension Bridge is used for walking access to a number of residences located on the trail east of the town. The only other access to these remote homes is by boat.
The city-owned Bridge provides a wonderful recreation destination for Bear Viewing, for exercise, and has always been one of the Focal Points of our Community.
Funds will be used to purchase materials and for wages for the Labor Pool to, minimally, replace the wooden platform sections and small cables of the Suspension Bridge.
The link to the YouTube video below shows the extent of the damage to the town caused by the storm, and it shows the great relief effort and rebuild work the City and Townspeople have accomplished.
This is a Friends supported campaign initiated by Tilikum Transport. All donations will be directed to the City bank account and will be designated to a fund specifically for the project and dispersed by Mayor Dan Kennedy with the approval of the City Council.
