Indian Reservation Mission work - ART
Tax deductible
A group of artist from the St. Croix Catholic Iconographers Guild, along with Master Iconographer Nicholas Markell, just returned from Mission work at the historic church of St. James in Porcupine, North Dakota on Standing Rock Indian Reservation. We painted an iconic-style Tree of Life around the Crucifix and six other large floral medallions along the side walls of the church. Our focus was the art but we gained a much greater appreciation for the people of the village and a desire to continue to provide them beauty in keeping with their traditions in their churches and schools.
We wish to return ...
Compared to the potential benefit to the community, cost of such a trip is minimal, if shared by many, We were most fortunate to have accommodations at the rectory and the convent. Expenses included travel, modest food to sustain us and art supplies. It is our hope to expand our group to eight next time and this fund raiser will go a long way in covering the expenses.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to so many people.
