Independent traffic study for Pasadena

Donation protected
This campaign will fund an INDEPENDENT traffic engineering study/review for existing conditions  in the City of Pasadena by Prism Engineering.

The current tools in use by the City of Pasadena do NOT accurately reflect what is happening at peak hour times and ultimately prevents us from mitigating congestion and traffic jams when adding more density from housing or new businesses.

To successfully challenge the city on their current traffic engineering practices, we need solid, independent data..

Prism Engineering will gather actual traffic counts, signal timing, and flow rate for some of our most impacted intersections and where the city is adding housing.   These intersections include:

• S. Los Robles Ave. at E. Del Mar Blvd. (am and pm peak hour)
• S. Marengo Ave. at E. California Blvd. (am and pm peak hour)
• S. Los Robles Ave. at E. California Blvd. (am and pm peak hour)
• S. Lake Ave. at E. California Blvd. (am and pm peak hour)

Prism will also conduct a study on bus usage where the city would like to add more investment and transportation fees.

Lastly, using an upgraded modeling system, Prism Engineering would like to evaluate the cumulative impacts of or “create a true picture of what is really happening in our city".

Pasadena is about to explode with more development and before we do, we must expose the City for engineering practices that are out of date and may not reflect the desires of its residents.

Pasadena residents have banded together as LIVABLE PASADENA to hold elected officials and city government accountable for threats to our quality of life.  Traffic is a major concern and allowing more large developments will only make congestion worse.

Have you tried to run a “quick errand” lately? The number of cars already on the roads make getting around a real challenge.  But it might get a lot worse until you take action.

Livable Pasadena needs to raise at least $8,000 to fund this engineering study. Now is the time to chip in and make the City face facts.

Livable Pasadena is led by Erika Foy and Megan Foker.  We are two residents in Pasadena who are very concerned about traffic and other aspects of our General Plan.  Prism Engineering has already conducted and produced a letter of concern to the City of Pasadena regarding particular issues facing the city like the use of older software to conduct traffic studies as well as the lack of a cumulative impact report.  We want to continue with Prism Engineering for a more accurate and personal study and have him come and evaluate in person.  The funds will be sent directly to Grant Johnson who is the traffic engineer for Prism Engineering.  My plan is to send the money directly to Grant Johnson and Prism Engineering.
