IN4 Fast for Sovereign House

Every year, IN4 Group celebrates Ramadan by running a team-wide sponsored fast to raise money for charity. This year IN4 will be fasting (abstaining from any food and drink) on the 14th May from sunrise until sunset to fundraise for local Salford charity, Sovereign House.

Sovereign House GH are a local charity and have been working in Salford since 2018 to delivery Computer Learning Programmes (CLPs) to children who would otherwise not have access to a computer at home and guardians without digital skills, putting the children at a significant disadvantage amongst their peers.

At IN4, we all know the value of digital skills. From providing life-changing opportunities for diverse communities to become cultural pioneers within digital careers’ pathways via Skills City, to children and young people being nurtured through one-marginalised styles of learning via CyberFirst and the Manchester Esports Academy, we proudly champion fair access to technology futures.

Sovereign House’s values closely reflect our own: they believe in the power of digital skills to unlock brighter futures for those who are not already represented within the local digital economy.

Their Computer Learning Programmes are targeted primarily at children from BAME communities who struggle in mainstream school or have other social barriers to regular attendance. The children they support lack access to technology that others may take for granted, such as a computer device at home. The Computer Learning Programmes enable young people to not only learn valuable skills but to academically excel; last year all CLP students taking their GCSEs achieved grades 7 – 9 (former A/A*). These skills and qualifications are crucial in providing opportunities for work and education that has the potential to lift families out of poverty through building new aspirations for their futures.

Demand for these programmes is high, such that Sovereign House are seeking to open a second hub within Salford borough. IN4 Group is proud to run a sponsored fast for Sovereign House in solidarity with our muslim colleagues over Ramadan.
