On the morning of January 20th, 2021, after her courageous battle against the cancer for over a year, our beloved friend and colleague, Sophie, passed away in her sleep.
Sophie was a young artist whose painting was chosen to be on a stamp in China at the age of 8; a prodigy that won the gold medal of Physics Olympiad in high school; a brilliant Princeton Physics PhD that received full scholarship; a talented researcher in neural science at the prestigious Salk Institute; a rising star in data science and machine learning at Experian Datalabs; a leader and mentor to many of her colleagues; an avid traveler and blogger that has been to all continents and shared her wonderful stories on her blogs; a diver that saved her companion who later became her loving husband undersea with her own oxygen tank; a caring and dedicated mother of her adorable daughter and son; a courageous fighter that was always positive, optimistic during her journey of fighting the cancer. A dear friend that had left us too early, too soon ...
As we grieve the loss of Sophie, we can't help but to think about of her family, especially her children. No matter how you have been touched by Sophie at some point of your life, we ask you to join us and use this GoFundMe to help Sophie's family, and perhaps help her kids to have an education that Sophie would want them to have.
In memory of Sophie, below are the last words she wanted to share with us:
"My dear friends, when you hear the news about me, you might be shocked, might be in denial. But this is life, real life.
Please do not feel sorrow for me. I do not wish to bring you pain. All I want is for you to remember fondly all the wonderful and joyful times we had together. I’m content and happy to have your company in my life.
Cherish your health, be optimistic, and enjoy life. I wish you all a happy life."
