Patrick Govan, our beloved, son, brother, fiance, uncle and friend, tragically lost his life on June 7th. His passing was sudden, heartbreaking, and has left an unimaginable void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him. We are setting up this GoFundMe to support funeral expenses, emergency medical expenses and other expenses. The goal is to help ease the financial burden on his grieving family during this incredibly difficult time. If you are able, please consider donating or sharing this page. With hearts full of sorrow and love, we announce the unexpected passing of Patrick McElroy Govan on the morning of June 7, 2025, at the age of 27. Patrick, a beloved son, brother, fiancé, uncle, cousin, and friend. Spreading his vibrant spirit and compassionate heart left an everlasting mark on all who knew him.
A proud resident of Highland and East Lansing, Michigan. Patrick lived a life fueled by curiosity, kindness and an unwavering commitment to learning. First in 2016 he graduated from Lakeland High School, he then followed his passion for knowledge to Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics in 2021. Never one to stop growing, Patrick went on to complete his Master’s in Data Science in 2024. His brilliance and analytical mind led him to a fulfilling role as a Data Analyst at MPS Group, where he approached his work with thoughtfulness, rigor, and creativity.
Patrick stood out not only for his towering 6'5" presence, but for his remarkable warmth, bright smile, and easygoing nature. He had a true gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved—a rare ability that endeared him to everyone he met.
A man of many passions, Patrick found joy in building Legos, attending EDM festivals with his fiancé, and watching horror films. Adventurous and always ready for anything—from skydiving to gaming—he embraced life with fearless enthusiasm. His playful spirit, open heart, and unrelenting curiosity for bold, innovative ideas made every moment in his presence unforgettable.
Patrick’s family and loved ones find comfort in the beautiful memories he leaves behind and in the profound impact of his life. Though his time with us was far too short, the love he shared and the light he brought into the world will never be forgotten.
He will be remembered always for his generosity, intellect, and infectious enthusiasm. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, and in the love that continues to surround him.
Patrick is survived by his parents Jim and Mary Govan, Brothers Andrew (Sara) Govan and Bradley (Cady) Govan, Beloved Fiancé Adriana Coulman, Nephews Landon and Aiden Govan, Daniel and Joseph Caverly and Kaleb Chapdelaine, Nieces Serene Elziam and Courtney Chapdelaine, Cat dad to Gaia.
Rest in peace, Patrick. You are deeply loved and forever missed.
