In memory of Johnny Lau, husband and father of 4

We are deeply saddened by the tragic and unexpected death of our dear friend, colleague, teacher and mentor, Johnny Lau, on Wednesday, November 23. Johnny was 43 years old and is survived by his parents, his wife, Herminia, and four young children, John Jeremy (12yrs), Jocelyn (11yrs), James (8yrs), and Jared (3yrs).

Johnny will be remembered for his love of his family, his devotion to God, and his dedication as a teacher. Johnny loved his family deeply, and spending time with his children brought him great joy. He was also a beloved member of Grace Church of the Bay Area. "He always came in with a warm smile and a gentle heart. He was always eager to lend a helping hand to others in need. He was dedicated to reading the Word with his family every night. His passion and joy for music shined as a worship leader and later as a guitar teacher." -Church group member

As a Crocker math teacher, he was known for his brilliance in teaching math to middle schoolers, his quiet smile, and for playing his guitar and singing for students. He taught math at Crocker for over 9 years, and around the Bay Area for over 20 years. “Mr. Lau left us all with his positive character and the abundant love he had for his family, students, and co-workers.” -Dr. Louann Carlomagno, HCSD Superintendent
