In loving memory of Bear
To my father — better known as Bear to family, friends, and honestly, just about everyone. He lived by a code of honor, loyalty, and love. He believed in showing up for people, helping anyone in need, and never turning away from a task — no matter how small or how heavy the burden.
Throughout my 33 years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing how much light he brought into the lives of so many. Bear wasn’t just my dad — he was a pillar in our community, always lending a hand, a laugh, or a shoulder to lean on.
In January, he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Even as he faced this uphill battle, my father’s priority never changed — being a good husband, father, and friend. He continued working through treatment, doing everything he could to support his loved ones. But as his health declined through rounds of chemotherapy and preparation for radiation, it became harder for him to sustain himself.
True to his nature, Bear never wanted to burden anyone. He kept quiet about the financial hardships and mounting medical bills, always putting others before himself. Now, as we face the unimaginable, our family is coming together to make sure he receives the beautiful farewell he deserves — to rest peacefully and reunite with his beloved mother, Carol Newton, in heaven.
With heavy hearts, we’re asking for the support of our community. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us honor his legacy with the dignity and love he embodied every day of his life.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support, prayers, and kindness during this difficult time.
