In Memory of a Dad, Husband, and Motorcyclist

Spende geschützt
Frank D. Yanes was killed tragically on Tuesday, August 25th, in a motorcycle accident. It is so widely known how much he and his wife Colleen loved their children, Keely, Lenna, and Zach.  Frank and Colleen are selfless people, and put their three children first in their lives. Frank and Colleen always figured out a way for their children to achieve their goals even if it meant putting their dreams on hold. It was the goal of Yanes family to ultimately retire in Florida. Frank was a month away from this goal. This goal to live out the rest of his life with his wife of almost 25 years.

When we announced our dad’s death, we did not ask for pity or prayers.  We simply asked for people to be safe, and to learn from this tragedy. Even though our father was an experienced rider, he wasn’t invincible, and neither are you. Life is valuable because you are loved by someone.  Frank D. Yanes, a father and husband, is now gone.  He will miss out on seeing the beauty of so many firsts in our adult lives, and we will miss him terribly. If anything good can come out of this event, it is the message to stay safe.

Frank began riding motorcycles when he was 16, and he has had a love for bikes all of his life. He graduated from the Gettysburg School District, which is where he met Colleen. Ten days after graduating high school, he joined the Marines and went straight to boot camp. He was a quiet man, but we are now realizing his impact on people. His family reaches from Pennsylvania to Florida to Arizona.

The fundraiser was brought to the family by a friend, Amy Dreves, and this is what she wanted to say.  "I am an art teacher, and Keely, their youngest, was in my art classes from freshman to senior year.  I watched her grow as an artist and person, and was impacted by how her parents supported her dream of attending Ringling School of Art, in Sarasota, with Scholarships.  Brilliant, yet humble daughter, Lenna, recently graduated from Florida SouthWestern State College on a full scholarship. After this horrible tragedy, this selfless family deserves to see Frank D. Yanes, a father and husband, be put to rest without worries of having to pay exorbitant end-of-life costs of a funeral at this transitional time in their lives.  When I suggested making a GoFundMe for Frank’s expenses, Colleen, his wife, told me she thought no one would donate towards something like that. He was extremely proud of all of his children. When I met Frank, was during an art event for prospective college students. I could tell that he supported his daughter, Keely, and that he admired her talent and abilities. He was proud of his other daughter, Lenna, for gaining an Associates with Honors credit.  He was proud of his first-born, Zachary, for working hard and staying focused."
