My name is Bunmi and I am a close family friend of Valerie Powell, mother of Kareem Wade. It is with great pain and sadness that I formally announce, on behalf of the family, the sudden and unexpected passing of Kareem, on Saturday May 16th. The family is grieving the loss of Kareem, a son, brother, grandson, uncle and friend. We take great pride in knowing the memory of Kareem will live on forever.
Son of Valerie Powell and Cedric Wade. Brother of Nicole, Natalie, Bernard, Troy, Michel, Monique, Lionel and Sheri. Grandson of Hyacinth Phillips. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Kareem was a gentle giant. A great big teddy bear who was loved by so many. His impact on the people who interacted with him remains immeasurable. Kareem was a humble, loving and kind soul, who always made sure everyone else was ok. He loved to have conversations to gain wisdom, and always made sure to take away the good in all situations. Kareem worked throughout the city touching the lives of people of all ages, groups and cultures.
The family is thankful for the kind words and support so many have shared to date. Your thoughts and prayers are a source of comfort. Many of you have expressed the urge to assist in any way possible.
This campaign was created because we understand that with the current restrictions in place, people are limited, yet still want to contribute and support during this time.
