Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Matt Bundy and I am a comedian, actor, and writer.
For pretty much my entire adult life, I have relentlessly pursued my dream of making movies and doing comedy. When I was 19, I moved to LA with the money I had saved working at Macy's. Knowing absolutely nothing or no one, I was fortunate enough to get into one of the best acting schools in the country. While dog-walking and bussing tables on the side, I took pretty much every single class that school offered. Those classes are what sparked my passion for screenwriting and sketch comedy. It's also where the first person encouraged me to try stand-up, and I thank God every day that they did.
After four years of studying there, the Hollywood "gatekeepers" (for lack of a better word), hadn't given me the opportunity to get my foot in the door. By now, I had fully fallen in love with stand-up, so I decided to move to Austin. I began to hone my craft in the bar open mics, the way I had with acting at my school for the past 4 years. During this time is when I remembered the most important piece of advice I had ever been given, that my filmmaking instructor gave me: "If the castle won't let down the draw bridge, build your own fucking kingdom." That is when I decided to start my own production company, Hollywood Texan Studios.
In the past year and a half, I've produced, written, and acted in over 85 sketches on IG and Youtube, and a couple social media commercials. Eventually, I want Hollywood Texan Studios to be one of the largest independent studios in the world. Making feature films, TV shows, and stand-up specials with young artists who just need a chance to prove what they are capable of, the way I do... But all of that starts with this short film I have written.
"Immersion Therapy" is a dark comedy about the most unorthodox, unprofessional, and quite frankly sketchiest life coach in the country.
It is an accumulation of all the work I have put in the past 8 years. This is going to be different from any sketch I've ever made. It's going to have a actual crew behind it, legitimate production value, and a multi-person cast of talented actors.
This is not a sketch, it is a short film. And I'm making it with the intent to submit it to every major festival, to be seen by people who finance larger projects. If this film goes according to plan, it could be the catalyst to getting me getting funding to make a TV show or feature film, which would create opportunities for all of the most talented people I know in Austin and LA, who haven't gotten a fair shot at success yet.
In order for that to happen, it has to be made correctly, and that means I need proper funding. I've gone into debt over the past year and a half making over 85 pieces of free content, and unfortunately can not afford to make this film the way it deserves to be made if I'm the only one funding it.
That's where I need your help. If I've ever made you laugh with any of my free content, or if you're just now finding me through this campaign and are inspired by my story, please contribute to this project. I cannot do this alone, and I will be eternally grateful for any and every donation, no matter how small.
The funding will go towards paying the cast and crew what they deserve, getting the right filming locations, post production, and festival submission fees.
Per festival rules, this film will not be going online. However all donors will get a free ticket to the screening of it in Austin, and be given other chances to see the film if they can't make it to that. They will also get their names in the credits as a contributor.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you can't donate, and still want to contribute in another way, it would mean the world to me if you shared this campaign with others.
With massive gratitude,
Matt.
