Still here at the Przemysl border. I am now affiliated with the charity https://www.madfoundation.com/volunteer who are doing fabulous things. We need volunteer Russian/Ukrainian to English translators - either remote or in person. Please click on the link if you want to apply. We are united in delivering targeted aid across the border, bringing refugees back over the border, enabling translations services for all charitable providers and generally being good eggs.
This week you lovely sponsors provided:
60x travel packs for refugees on trains
Accommodation costs for a translator at the Humanitarian Centre
Accommodation costs for a family, including severely autistic child, who are waiting for their UK visa and, due to special needs, cannot stay in a refugee centre
Accommodation for mother and daughter awaiting UK visa - the daughter had been approached by a trafficker and was too frightened to stay in the refugee centre again.
Access to mental health support for a core team of translators working at Przemysl station
Military grade medical kits for Make A Difference Foundation's aid drivers who are going over the border.
There are other things that I can't remember - fuel for the animal shelter - nappies for the Aid Centre - it all gets a bit blurry after a couple of days. I have receipts for everything though and am happy to send proof of spends to anyone requesting.

At the Medyka/Przemysl border again. Just so frustrating that the UK visa system is so protracted:
Firstly, in order to apply for a visa you need a UK sponsor, and whilst there are thousands of you out there willing to host, there is no unified and regulated platform for this to be achieved. It's just not good enough that this is happening on FaceBook. And most Ukrainians don't speak English - so how can they find a family?
Secondly, it takes up to 14 working days to get a visa if you do not have a biometric passport - and someone in almost every family does not have one. So they have to wait. And there is NO accommodation. They have no money and are sleeping in train stations and on the streets. If they are lucky they find a bed in a transit centre. People traffiking is rife so a safe, secure bed is of top priority.
I am now lobbying corporate businesses to help fund a central office in Warsaw to assist with finding sponsors, visa applications, accommodation and transport for all those wishing to take refuge in the UK. I am also working towards securing more safe beds in the border area.
On a smaller scale, our team has delivered 50 travel sanitary and children's packs to the train stations and coaches going across Europe. Everyone who has contributed to my GoFundMe account has provided transport, accommodation and moral support to 7 families in the last 2 days. I've handed out cash-money to those who have nothing and bought pants and socks for countless people now. The flow of refugees has slowed a little, but now we are seeing the poor and those who have lost everything coming through, so the financial need is greater. Swift break to organise childcare and then we are back on the border on Monday. Delivering travel packs and organising UK destined refugee's visa, UK sponsors, accommodation and onward travel. Also Sarah will be volunteering at a refugee animal shelter on the border. They desperately need helpers.
UPDATE - Mission accomplished! This weekend we are taking specialist baby, child and women's aid packages to the border train stations, linking with a translator to enable non-English speaking Ukrainians to apply for UK visas on the new scheme and providing safe onward transport to vulnerable people. The people trafficking is appalling and youngsters still need your help to stay safe.

UPDATE- I’m travelling to the border, near the most recent air strikes, tomorrow for a targeted collection of a lone child. Also a mother with 3 month old and 2 year old. I will bring them back to safety and as many others as I can fit in the truck. They will get safe accommodation and onward transport to where they need to go. The more you give, the more we can help. We are a group of international women in Poland. We are liaising with Ukrainian/Polish border warehouses to understand exactly what aid is needed, at which border crossing and when.
We also offer transport of vulnerable people, their pets, plus practical support (computer access, internet connection, transport, accommodation and moral support) for visa applications.
We can only do all this if we have a bit of financial help from you.
We are all volunteers and every penny donated is accountable and only spent on vital aid. No salaries, no bureaucracy - just women helping other women and children.
