100 percent of the island's power is offline with the exception of a few generators powering only the highest-priority buildings like hospitals (only 11 of 69 hospitals have power). The airports are a mess. Power will be out for months in some places.
No power means most places do not have water to drink or bathe in or to flush toilets - there’s limited food, fuel, cell service and medication. The storm knocked out 1,360 out of 1,600 cellphone towers on the island.
100% of the proceeds will go to the aid of my family in Puerto Rico in need as well as relief efforts on the island.
This gofundme is an effort to help send residents like my family and others, basic supplies needed like batteries, battery operated fans, canned food - as soon as mail delivery services are restored. Depending on the delays, we are thinking of alternate solutions.
We are currently planning on getting my sister and 2 nephews out to the mainland next week (positive vibes that their flights do not get cancelled). Like most, they have become desperate with lack of sleep and record high heat. We are hoping to get their lives somewhat back to normal out here until the island conditions improve. My grandma and other family members (old & young) do not have the flexibility to leave the island so with your generous donations we will hopefully be able to ease the burden.
thank you so much for your donations, shares, thoughts and positive energies - I will continue to provide updates as I have them.
