Hurricane Beryl aftermath Jamaica

My name is Rebecca and I am from England but I work in Negril, Jamaica.

The island was recently hit by Hurricane Beryl, the island & the local people are still suffering.

My local friends are such lovely people who are working daily in the hospitality industry trying to assist the tourists to ensure they enjoy their holiday in luxury hotels but them themselves are going home to no water or electricity, as over a week after the hurricane it’s not been restored in all communities. The time is extremely hot and they are struggling to sleep as they don’t have electric for their fans, leaving the windows open means they have mosquitoes coming in their house.

They are limited to what & if they can cook, many use gas but they can not store the food as the fridge is not on, then those with electric hobs of course can not cook at all.

Food outlets now have put prices up as some have suffered damages and also using generators.

Some people have had damages do their home and their fruit trees fallen.

I would use the money to divide between those I know of in need. I’m only asking for a little bit to reach our donation goal, in comparison to what they need. But any little will help as they can use this towards even something small such as purchasing a rechargeable fan which they can charge at their work location, or towards some fresh, hot food they can buy as they can not cook, some power banks to charge their devices. The more we raise, they can use to put towards fixing any damages to their homes.
