Help Humphrey Home
Spende geschützt
As some of you may know, I have a Kenyan brother named Humphrey. When he met my parents in 2012 he was the pool guy at the safari camp. That week he was also responsible for pushing my dad's wheelchair around the camp.
As the week went on, my dad asked “What do you want to do with your precious life?”
He answered, “Ever since I was little I wanted to be a nurse. But I could never raise enough to afford tuition and live someplace safe in Nairobi while attending school.”
My mom asked, “How much is it?” It was $400 a semester plus living expenses.
My parents said, "We can cover that."
When the first payment went through to the school, Humphrey called my parents and said "People who support people like this in Kenya are parents. Can I call you mom and dad?"
Through teary eyes, my parents said "Of course!" And that is how I got an older brother when I was 30.
11 years later, Humphrey is now a nurse in London. The program that got him to the UK covers basic expenses, but not enough to save enough to afford to visit his original mom and family outside Nairobi. We want to make sure that he is set up to sustainably live on this new life path.
We hope to have the help and support of the greater community.
With the money from this GoFundMe, we will set up a monthly amount to go to Humphrey. If possible we will also help set aside money to visit family every other year. The goal is to lessen the isolation of living on the little island inbetween his two families.
Any support would be helpful. Thank you for being part of our global family!
