Hudson Valley Pilot: Your Community, Your News.

Twelve years ago, the Rhinebeck Gazette closed down, along with a set of other weeklies in our area. Our town and many of the surrounding communities were left with no local news.

So in mid-October, we launched the Hudson Valley Pilot as one piece of a regional effort to restore independent local journalism in the Hudson Valley.

The Pilot is a true "start up:" it's undercapitalized, understaffed, but determined and inspired by a deep sense of community.

We started in October so we could provide election coverage for all the federal and state races in NY 18 and 19. In a matter of weeks, we were reporting on the issues and decisions about our town and village, our schools, our businesses and our neighbors. In 2023 we will add features to share some of the most important news that rarely gets attention: Who was born? Who graduated? Who passed away?

We cannot do this alone. All of this will require your support.
